Morning Tempest Studios is an eclectic boutique for the exceptional soul. We cater to those who want something they can’t find mass marketed and want to create something truly personal. From custom colors, adding a special message or name, to daydreaming of something completely new, I strive to make each of my customers feel special like an old friend. What do we sell? Bibs, blankets, burp cloths and more all embroidered with funky designs. Customizing available for almost every design. Who am I?
My name is actually Crysta Icore and I am a crafter. I’ve only been sewing for about 7 years now and admittedly at first, I sucked. But I stuck with it, started practicing every day and soon I was able to make beautiful costumes for my daughter, then handmade bags and purses that I would give away to family, friends, and birthday parties. Then I had the idea to do baby things after making a few gifts for friends. Baby items are so cute and so much fun to do. From there I just fell in love with the idea of being able to be home with my family and do what I love.
I am happily married to a wonderfully supportive man who encourages my funky creative side. We have so much fun together traveling, cooking, and hanging out. We have 4 almost grown kids. We also have 2 awesome dogs and a 2 crazy cats, a dragon and a handful of pond fish. I love sewing and making new things for my friends and family. But I just can’t stand the traditional, so I gotta shake it up a bit.
One thing that most people don’t know about me is that I have Chronic Lyme Disease. Living with Lyme is a long and difficult dance, but once you learn it life is much easier than fighting it. Part of coping with a disease that is both painful physically and emotionally is finding outlets that take your mind away from the pain and fear of what will happen to you as your body breaks down from the disease. For me, I have always been an artsy person. I love music and LOVE to dance in my kitchen or out in the garden with my friends. There’s always music around me, sometimes just in my head, but it’s beautiful. I used to sketch alot, but my hands have a hard time with the pencil now. So I turned to sewing and bringing my ideas to life through thread. Embroidery has given me a chance to be creative again and reach out and share the things I make with others.
